The Truth About Posting…
Social media is how we market our brands in today’s world…
It’s the storefront, the handshake, the first impression. Call it what you want, but it matters. And yet… it’s often the first thing to fall to the bottom of the to-do list. Even for someone like me, who does this for a living!!
I run a PR and content business. I literally spend my days creating social media strategies, writing captions, designing posts, and helping brands grow online and I truly love it. Promoting others is my passion. I love making businesses look good and feel seen. But if I’m being real… I struggle to post for my own business. And it’s not because I don’t care. It’s because, like so many other business owners, I have a million other things on my plate. Client work, content shoots, scheduling, emails, planning, proposals … it adds up. And by the time I even think about posting on my Instagram, it’s already the end of the day or week… and something else needs my attention or honestly, my eyes just need a screen break.
It sounds silly, but it’s the truth: social media should be a priority, but it often falls behind everything else. And I know I’m not the only one. So if you feel overwhelmed by content, behind on posting, or guilty about your feed, you’re not alone. It’s hard to wear every hat and still show up consistently online.
Here are a few simple things that help me & might help you too:
1. Keep a running list of ideas.
Whenever something pops into your head (a client win, a behind-the-scenes moment, a question you always get asked) jot it down. That way, when it’s time to post, you’re not starting from scratch.
2. Set realistic goals.
You don’t need to post every single day. Start with once or twice a week and build from there. Consistency matters more than frequency.
3. Don’t just chase trends.
You don’t have to go viral. What matters most is staying true to your brand, being relatable, and giving your audience a reason to care or follow.
And if it ever feels like too much, that’s literally why I created SoFlo PR. My goal is to take some of that weight off your shoulders and help your brand stay visible, when you’re busy running the show behind the scenes.
